On Our Way Home!

Greetings from Oklahoma City! We are crossing our great country a second time en-route to our beloved home in St. Marys and cannot wait to sleep in our own beds and see all of you! Notice what I mentioned first! If you haven't visited Jacob's blog site (see link on the right column below) I hope that you will take the time to do so. I am amazed (even as his father) at the depth of his dedication to this task. My experience as a voting commissioner at GA was such that by the time I would get to my hotel room late at night, there was nothing left. For Jacob however, it seems as if that is precisely when the Holy Spirit grabs him. His time at the Assembly has been rich and rewarding as you will see in his writing. Please continue to pray for our church. The tough issues are coming today and tomorrow to the floor. One particular vote on the recommendation from the Committee on Church Orders will have the Assembly decide whether or not to propose to the presbyteries the deletion of the Fidelity/Chastity clause in our Book of Order. If this goes back to the presbyteries as an amendment to the constitution, and subsequently approved by two thirds of the presbyteries in our nation, it will radically change our current ordination standards. At this time, no one knows how it's going to fall out. Please remember there is great passion on BOTH sides of this ordination issue and as we prayerfully discern God's will for the Presbyterian Church USA, may God, (as Joan Gray has said for the past two years), "show us a way where there seems to be no way."
