The Savannah Presbytery, through the M.K. Ecology fund, has granted our church along with several others $400 to help us go green. Whichever church has displayed the best program will win $4,000 at the end of the year. The green committee decided to start simple during the month of September. We have placed white trashcans in the CE building, Kitchen, and Office that state “Recycling Only for Plastics, Aluminum, and Glass.” Please help do your part by putting items in there. On Sunday evenings the Youth Group will be responsible for making sure the recycling bin gets to the street. Beginning Sunday, 13 September, there will be a bin in the narthex for your bulletins to recycle. There will also be a bin in the Church office & CE Building for paper as well. Elizabeth Thomas will take these bins to the base recycling facility each week.
The green committee is asking that each committee/group in the church provide us with three (3) examples of how they can go green. The ideas are to be submitted by 1 October.
Each week a blurb about recycling will be in the bulletin as well as on the website.
The committee is asking for families and individuals to provide stories about how they are being green friendly at home. Your story may be posted on the website! Please e-mail your stories to ethomas@tds.net
For more information about how you can be a part of this new committee please contact Elizabeth Thomas.
