Annual Stewardship Campaign Begins… First Presbyterian Church introduces its 2011-2012 Stewardship Campaign More Than Enough this week. All members and friends of the church are once again urged to simply ask this question of ourselves: What is God asking me to do this year for my church?” Beginning next Sunday, Elders will be presenting weekly More Than Enough messages during our worship services. This year’s campaign will also include a Time and Talent Survey.
Journeys of Paul Spiritual Pilgrimage Canceled… The June 2011 Spiritual Pilgrimage to Turkey and Greece has been canceled. The group was not able to reach the 22 required passengers to book the airline by the December 28, 2010 deadline. There has been interest in planning a pilgrimage in early summer 2012 to Turkey and Greece and include a Holy Land segment. If you are interested please see Pastor Rick.
Winter Conferences This Week at Montreat … Jeremy Douylliez will attend the 2011 Winter College Conference at Montreat January 3-5. This popular event will draw students from colleges across the country. Leading the conference is Brian McLaren, pastor author and networker among Christian leaders and thinkers. His recent writings include: A New Kind of Christianity; The Justice Project, and Adventures in Missing the Point. Pastor Rick and Pastor Ben Beasley will attend a conference January 5-8. Leading this conference will be Mark Devries and Michelle Thomas Bush (a seminary classmate of Pastor Rick’s) and will focus on ministering to youth and families in the 21st century church.
