This morning at 7:30 a.m. 24 middle schoolers along with Pastor Jim Morrow and myself continued to explore last Sunday's lectionary text from Luke 24 The Walk to Emmaus. We talked about how easy it is for us sometimes to take on the despair of those two disciples who said, "We had hoped for ... we had hoped for ..." and the response from Jesus, "How foolish you are ... and slow to heart to believe!" One of our promising youth commented afterward as we headed out to the vans, "Pastor Rick, I do believe... and that's what gives me hope!" My prayer today is for that child-like faith of this young person be nurtured in such a way that she may encourage others to walk with her and talk with her along life's journey. I do believe I recognized Him . . . and my own eyes were opened today in the words of a 13 year old . . .as we broke bread together at Hardee's!
