Entering the Facebook World

I've been reading a lot about the use of technology in the church. A recent conference at Montreat Church Unbound addressed this at length. Those attending the event agreed that we (the church) must become more adept at integrating what is so "natural" to many into the everyday life of our communities of faith. My kids encouraged me this week to begin a Facebook page. I did. I'm still not sure I am comfortable with the idea entirely but it's growing on me. I now have 28 friends! Then I found out that our Director of Youth Ministries had opened a Facebook organization page for our church. I hope no one minds but I JOINED today and posted a message! If you read this blog regularly, please consider this as yet another means of regular communication among neighbors that is much more current and up-to-date than anything we've done in the past 10 years! As many of you know, our "snail mail" monthly newsletter is now a relic of the past. So come on, take the plunge and let's be Facebook friends!

Rick,
Get some more pictures on your site. Your kids can do that for you by posting pictures directly to your site! I too am new to this venue of communication, but am open to new opportunities of connecting with contemporary culture!
