Our "Connectional - Relational" Church

Cathy and I just returned from Waycross, Georgia this afternoon after attending the funeral service for a long-time member of FPC Waycross. Julia Moss passed away on Monday. Her family said that she "insisted" on a Presbyterian funeral but her pastor (Jeff Martin) as many of you know has accepted a call to FPC, Fort Dodge, Iowa. I was invited by this family (that I did not know at all) to officiate the service. I drove over and attended the visitation on Wednesday evening and simply listened for a few hours and today I tried to do my very best. The family seemed satisfied with this "stranger" or "strange" pastor (whichever you prefer) but the comment that struck me the most was Julia's granddaughter who said, "I think it's neat that one church could help out another in such a beautiful way." This connectional-relational church is very beautiful, and I am glad to be a part of it! By the way, for those of you that read this blog regularly, we drove over to Hilliard on our way home today and visited with Adina Grose who suffered a stroke recently. She is improving wonderfully and thanks each of you for your prayers and concern. God is good! All the time!
