Special PW Projects… Presbyterian Women announces the creation of The Prayer Shawl Ministry under the leadership of Gull Weaver!

The first gathering for this Circle will be next Sunday, September 12 at 2PM in Fellowship Hall. The mission of The Prayer Shawl Ministry is the creation of loving prayers shawls (made by our members) for anyone who needs to be "wrapped in prayer". The Prayer Shawl Ministry members knit or crochet shawls that are given to persons who are celebrating a marriage, the baptism of a child, people who are ill or have suffered a loss or are in the middle of a life crisis. There is really no right or wrong way to create these gifts of love and caring. The shawls do not all have to be alike. When a shawl is finished it will be blessed and given to someone to whom it will become a very meaningful gift. There is no time limit to finish your shawl. You can make your shawl at home or within the group that is forming. It's a wonderful ministry!!!! Our group is just getting started!!! Come join Gull at this most important planning event.....If you have any questions, call Mary Smith, PW Moderator at 673 9032.

An Opportunity to Support Our Troops!
A daughter of a friend of one of our Savannah Presbyterian sisters has asked if we would be willing to make small pillows for those undergoing surgery in Iraq and Afghanistan to cushion joints during surgery. Our PW Coordinating Team approved this project at their meeting last Monday night. Ladies, you do NOT have to know how to sew to do this! We need ladies to cut and iron also. Most important, you do NOT have to be a member of one of our circles to assist with this worthy project. Join us this Thursday, September 9 at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. If you have left over cotton-like fabric at least 10”X6” in size or an old sheet, a pair of large scissors, or polyfill, bring them along. We will also have supplies on hand as well. For more information please call Barbara Conner at 673-8570.

Journeys of Paul… An informational meeting was held last Sunday, August 29 at 4:00 p.m. to see how many might be interested in traveling to Istanbul, Turkey and Greece to walk in the footsteps of the Apostle Paul. The trip is tentatively being planned for May 25 – June 11, 2011. We need approximately 20 pilgrims to make this trip more affordable for everyone. If you are interested in this exciting adventure, a proposed itinerary may be found in the narthex today.

Riding for a Cure… Multiple sclerosis (or MS) is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system. Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable and vary from one person to another. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society has organized a 150 mile fun ride in numerous cities across the country to bring awareness to the communities they reside and raise funds for the victims of this debilitating disease. In 2001, Elder Chuck Fulton raised over $1400 and was given the coveted “Top Banana Jersey”. Please consider helping him by sponsoring his participation in the North Florida MS 150 on October 2nd and 3rd. If you are interested in sponsoring him, he can be contacted at home (cfulton1@tds.net or 729-8184).
